I was an evacuee billeted with the Stanley family @ Higher Lodge Offwell Devon during the war. the parents were Frank Edward and Louisa May(Cissy) with their only son DEREK JOHN who was probably at age of 7 or 8 years. I stayed with the Stanleys for just over 2 years returned to London November 1941. I have visited the village on several occasions the last being on this last Tuesday 01.09.2015 As I am fast approaching my 87th year this last visit will probably have to be the last.
I have many happy memories of my stay with the Stanley family who very kindly
accepted me into their family treating me no differently to son DEREK JOHN.
I hope that this will be received by the family of the DEREK JOHN STANLEY that
I shared with for 2 years as 2 very young lads One a Devonian lad and myself a
Cockney evacuee.
